Añejo means “vintage”. Typically aged between 1 and 3 years. They are darker in color and more complex in flavor than a reposado. A year of resting in a cool bodega produces a smoother taste. American whiskey barrels, French oak casks or cognac barrels, are commonly used to age this tequila.

The first level of aging, reposado means “rested”. Aged in wood for a period of 2 months but no longer than 12. Each distillery has its preference for the type of barrels used for aging. The type of barrel used and the resins and tannins exuded have a dramatic impact on the finished product.

Extra Añejo

A new classification added in 2006, labeling any tequila aged more then 3 years an extra añejo. With this extended amount of aging, the tequila becomes much darker, more of a mahogany color, and is so rich that it becomes difficult to distinguish it from other quality aged spirits. These extra añejo’s are smooth, complex and rare.

REAL has the distinction of being one of the world’s first extra añejos. With a taste that can only be described as exquisite, it has rich aromas and incredibly smooth flavors of vanilla layered with caramel, chocolate and almond undertones.

Gran Patron Piedra
This outstanding extra añejo tequila is crafted using the centuries old tahona process and is aged for more than 3 years. It offers a deep mahogany color and sweet, subtle aromas of fruit, fresh mushroom, light citrus and toasted French oak.

Avion Reserva 44
One of the world’s finest extra añejos. A spirit that the most demanding of Tequila connoisseurs and high-end whiskey drinkers will appreciate. Aged 43 months in oak barrels, then aged an additional month in specially selected petite barrels. Deep caramel notes intermingle with black pepper, cinnamon, clove, lucious fruit and spice.

Roca Patron Flight

This Artisanal Tequila is produced entirely from the “Tahona Process,” A labor-intensive, centuries-old Tequila tradition. Its name comes from the Tahona, a two ton volcanic stone-wheel used to crush the cooked agave to break the bonds of fiber and release the juice.

Aging in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels provides a truly unexpected complex finish with roasted agave, vanilla, and wood with hints of dried fruits and butterscotch.

Hornitos Black Barrel
Triple aged in bourbon barrels. First, 1 year in American oak, then moved to charred bourbon barrels for an additional 4 months to ensure the tequila breathes through the caramelized layer of sugar, imparting rich, smoky notes found in whiskey. Lastly, it is aged for 2 months in specially toasted barrels which creates a creamier, vanilla character.

Tres Agaves Añejo
Maturing in Woodford Reserve oak barrels for 18 months creates a truly memorable tequila. Time, oak, and mature agave present layers of taste that are exquisite. Honeycomb, nougat, and ginger with a lingering smoky finish.

Specialty Tequila Flight

Maestro Dobel
First ever diamond tequila. It’s blended with reposado, añejo, and extra añejo. Standing alone in this category it’s a silver tequila with the tastes of an aged spirit. Aromas of citrus and herbs with notes of smoked wood and dried fruits.

The world’s first clear añejo. It has the smoothness of a blanco but the complexity of an añejo. Aged 18 months in American oak, with notes of vanilla, honey and toasted oak.
